Big Brother or Little Sister?
Getting used to a network system is like being a middle child, where everyone on the estimating team has access to your work and can screw up your work without guardrails in your process.
After a job is awarded, project managers can go back through how you estimated the cost for a work activity and critique your methods or assumptions with 20/20 hindsight.
Managers can review your estimate, make unilateral adjustments they feel are necessary and you'll never know until things are not as you expected. Maybe you skimped on something in one item because you felt those costs were covered collaterally elsewhere. Your boss, sees your lack of content and adds to your item without any consultation, thinking he just saved you from a mistake. The result? Too much money on your bid.
80/20 Is not a motor oil viscosity range:
You will hear me talk about how only 20 percent of your system is affected by the software you have purchased. The other 80 percent is related to people and operating procedures. We specialize in plotting your workflow, measuring your data touches, and helping businesses to develop S.O.P.s that automatically avoid letting someone crap in your sandbox. Collaboration is crucial, but standardization and consistency are even more important when you start to network your talent.
